In September 2021, Girls Not Brides will be launching a new Campaigns strategy that will enhance and support Child marriage work including due diligence standards on safeguarding. Those standards have to be applied to the current partnership BIRD-Liberia seeks to uphold with Girls Not Brides based on agreed commitment. This is to ensure that BIRD-Liberia and downstream partners have the system and mechanisms in place to be fully compliant with the safeguarding standards laid down in the GNB safeguarding framework. BIRD-Liberia work with civil society, international organizations and governments to encourage and support effective policies practices through advocacy, research and policy development through supporting the actions of others.
In our programming, we work in partnership with local organizations to support women and children, youth and community groups in their efforts to build peace and respond to the impacts of girls by identifying and addressing safety and peace-building needs that are specific to different communities. BIRD-Liberia is particularly focused on understanding and addressing the relationships between gender, peace and security amid early Child marriage across a range of contexts to inform peace building policy and programming. BIRD-Liberia and partners often work with highly vulnerable individuals and therefore it is essential that staff and volunteer’s capacity are strengthened to safeguard against harm (Nationally or intentionally) that could be caused through the delivery of its programmes or interventions.
